In London I experienced that the young and urban generation explores unlimited possibilities to adapt to everything they like. Searching for a cultural identification, this generation is turning the grey city landscape into a playground of radiant colours and edgy shapes. Ethnic prints and artificial yarns collide with traditional influences and upcoming technologies. Inspired by this kaleidoscope of hybrid streetstyles I created ‘Merging Cultures’. Here, ethnic fabrics are deconstructed and reassembled artefacts of heritage become dazzling techno tweeds. This material collection where each thread contains its own story - get translated into two-dimensional prints and transformed into three-dimensional structures.
